In the last years of the 19th century, great-grandfather Emilio Armando Lombardi opened his workshop in Viareggio, where he began trading in earthenware vases and crockery.

In the 1920s, again Emilio Armando Lombardi, who had long experience as a turner in an earthenware company, opened a shard factory in Varignano, a small industrial neighborhood on the outskirts of the city.

Almiraldo Lombardi, one of Emilio Armando's sons, succeeded his father at the helm of the small store in downtown Viareggio at 117 Via Antonio Fratti, just where it still stands today.

Initially it is just a small housewares business, specializing in kitchen utensils, cookware, and tableware. It is, however, Emilio Lombardi, born in 1940, and son of Almiraldo, who generated the company's great development, taking over at the age of only sixteen. Expanding the premises, still located in the same location, he began reselling not only general household goods, but also porcelain, glassware, silverware, and even custom linens and accessories, specializing in supplies for the burgeoning Viareggio shipbuilding industry (yacht supply).
